20 Options for Free & Low Cost Veterinary Care in Idaho

Are you in dire need of free veterinary care for low income pets (or at least a low cost vet clinic) in Idaho? We’ve got you covered! Finding veterinary care resources for low income Idaho pets can be tough. Thankfully, we’ve got a list of agencies that’ll provide pet services that won’t put a huge dent in your bank account.

Medical Financial Assistance

Unfortunately, our pets age or get sick and caring for them can become even more expensive. Two Idaho organizations recognize the financial and emotional burden unexpected veterinary care can cause pet owners. These organizations may be able to provide financial assistance to help you get free veterinary care near you.

Pawsitivity Rescue (Statewide)

Pawsitivity Rescue has a Community Care Fund that could help with unexpected pet care costs. Their fund is intended to help low income pet owners pay for unexpected or life saving procedures, medications, or other services. This fund will not cover routine care such as spay/neuter services. Hand and Paw (Statewide)

Hand and Paw’s “Nilla’s Grant” provides financial assistance for emergency or life altering pet care. Grant amount depends on financial need, available funds, and severity of pet’s condition. Spay and Neuter Services

An important part of pet and community health is spaying and neutering, but the cost of these procedures are often unaffordable. Thankfully, many Idaho organizations offer affordable spay/neuter services at low cost vet clinics, and even offer discounted rates for low income pet owners.

Humane Society of Palouse (Latah County)

The Humane Society of Palouse provides spay/neuter coupons to to all residents of Latah County. They do not have income restrictions, but they ask residents to not apply unless they need the help. The coupons reduce the cost of spaying by $90 and neutering by $50. Coupons must be used at a vet clinic within Latah County (please note, Affordable Vet Care and Cedar Veterinary Clinic do not accept the coupons). To apply, please print and complete the application on their website or visit their shelter. The coupons can take up to a month to receive, so please plan accordingly. Idaho Humane Society (Boise)

The Idaho Humane Society offers a low cost vet clinic for anyone regardless of income or residency. Their spay/neuter services range from $75-$90 for cats and $180-$375 for dogs depending on gender and weight. They may offer a further discounted rate for low income pet owners, but their website is not clear. Please contact them for more information. SNIP Idaho (Meridian)

SNIP Idaho is a nonprofit that offers low cost spay/neuter services. Their services range from $75-$80 for cats and $180-$310 for dogs depending on gender and weight. Please note, their additional fees are listed on their website. You can make an appointment on SNIP Idaho’s website.

West Valley Humane Society (Canyon County)

West Valley Humane Society operates a low cost vet clinic for pet owners in Canyon County. Their spay/neuter services range from $95-$115 for cats and $185-$350 for dogs depending on gender and weight. Additional servcives can be added on for a low cost. Simply Cats (Mountain Home)

Simply Cats offers spay/neuter vouchers to cat owners. For $40-$65 (Depending on spay or neuter) cat owners can purchase a vouchers to be used at Knight Vet Clinic in Mountain Home. Vouchers can be purchased on Simply Cats website.

East Idaho Spay Neuter Coalition (Idaho Falls)

East Idaho Spay Neuter Coalition is a nonprofit that provides spay/neuter vouchers. Not much information is provided on their website, but they announce available vouchers and details on how to receive them on their facebook. Companions Animal Center (Hayden)

Companions Animal Center provides a low cost vet clinic to pet owners in Hayden. Their spay/neuter services range from $50-$70 for cats and $110-$250 for dogs depending on gender and weight. Additional fees may apply and additional services, such as vaccines, can be added on. Appointments are required and can be made on Companions Animal Center’s website.

Pet Haven (Nampa)

Pet Haven is a cat shelter in Nampa that offers low cost spay/neuter services for cats only. Their services are $25 for neutering and $50 for spaying. Please note, all services must be paid in cash. Appointments are required and can be made on Pet Haven’s website.

Conrad Strays (Middleton)

Conrad Strays offers low cost spay/neuter services to low income pet owners in Idaho. Their services cost $30 for neutering and $40 for spaying. Additionally, low cost vaccines can be added on. All about the Animals provides a low cost vet clinic to pet owners in the Pocatello area. Their low cost clinic provides spay/neuter services, but their prices are not listed on their website. Humane Society of Upper Valley (Idaho Valley)

The Humane Society of the Upper Valley offers spay/neuter vouchers for pet owners in the Idaho Falls area. Appointment for a spay/neuter service must be booked (for at least 7 days out) prior to applying for a voucher. Vouchers can be applied for on Humane Society of Upper Valley’s website.

Bannock Humane Society (Pocatello)

Bannock Humane Society partners with local veterinarians to provide low cost spay/neuter services. Theirs services are $100 for cats and $120 for dogs. Vaccines & Wellness

Keeping your pet healthy can be a large expense. Between vaccines, exams, and preventative medications, providing care to your pet may seem financially impossible. If you feel this way, you are not alone and you have options! Idaho has multiple low cost vet clinics and even free veterinary care for low income pets!

Companions Animal Center (Hayden)

Companions Animal Center also provides vaccines and microchipping at their low cost clinic. Their clinic is open every Wednesday from 12pm-5pm and appointments are required. Idaho Humane Society (Boise)

Idaho Humane Society offers reduced cost services to pet owners in the Boise area. They offer exams (including dental), vaccines, testing, and microchipping. Pet Food Assistance

The cost of feeding our pets continues to rise often making it unaffordable. Thankfully, Idaho has many resources that provide pet food to low income pet owners.

Idaho Humane Society (Boise)

The Idaho Humane Society operates a pet food pantry out of their Boise location. Pet food assistance is available for up to 4 pets per person and up to 6 months. Pet food is distributed twice a month, and applications are required prior to picking up food. Pet owners who receive public assistance or are considered low income are eligible to apply. West Valley Humane Society (Canyon County)

West Valley Humane Society offers pet food assistance to pet owners in Canyon County. Assistance is only meant to be supplemental and there is a limit on what you can receive monthly. Companions Animal Center (Hayden)

Companions Animal Center provides pet food assistance to low income pet owners in Kootenai County. Depending on stock, Companions may be able to supply food for up to 5 pets for 6 months (applications are reevaluated after 6 months). Pet food distribution is every third Saturday of the month at the Companions Adoption Center. Pet owners who receive public assistance or meet the federal poverty guidelines are eligible to apply. Tails Foundation (Kootenai County)

Tails Foundation provides pet food assistance to pet owners in Kootenai County through multiple distributions. Tails Foundation gathers donations and distributes to locations throughout Kootenai County. Income and residency requirements are not mentioned on their website, but each donation site may have different requirements. Hand and Paw (Star)

Hand and Paw host a pet food and supply distribution on the first Saturday of the month at LifeSpring church. Assistance is meant to be supplemental and they cannot guarantee what they will have in stock. All About The Animals hosts a pet food pantry at Phil Meador Subaru. Assistance from “Josies’s and Greta’s Food Pantry” is available by calling 208-223-5976. Please call and request food at least 2 days before you need it.

Humane Society of Upper Valley (Idaho Valley)

The Humane Society of Upper Valley provides pet food assistance by application only. Their website does not include much information on eligibility or amount of assistance. Please complete Humane Society of Upper Valley’s application for more information and assistance.

Humane Society of Palouse (Latah County)

The Humane Society of Palouse offers pet food assistance to all pet owners in Latah County. Their pet food pantry is located at their animal shelter in Moscow and can be visited from 1pm-6pm Monday-Saturday.
