Statewide Georgia Rent Assistance Programs
Georgia has multiple statewide programs. Nationwide social service agencies such as the Salvation Army and Community Action Association, are located throughout the state of Georgia. Additionally, there are a few statewide resources that serve specific populations, such as food service workers. Keep reading for more information.
Georgia Rental Assistance Program
The Georgia Rental Assistance Program is currently only helping people who are looking for eviction prevention services from a legal services organization like Atlanta Legal Aid or Georgia Legal Services Program.
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is a nationwide social service agency with locations throughout Georgia. The Salvation Army offers many resources, often including rent assistance. Please note, each Salvation Army location offers different programs and may have different eligibility rules. Please see the website for the location closest to you for more information.

Georgia Community Action Association (GCAA)
GCAA is a network of social service agencies throughout the state of Georgia. Most agencies within the GCAA offer some type of financial or rent assistance, but it is important to confirm with the agency that serves your county. The GCAA agencies listed below are organized by the city their physical location is located. Please note, each agency serves the whole county they are in and usually the surrounding counties. Saint Vincent de Paul (SVdP)
SVdP is a catholic social service agency that operates in parishes throughout the United States. Each SDvP offers different services and has different eligibility requirements, but most offer some type of financial or rent assistance. Parishes with a SDvP conference are located throughout the state of Georgia. Each SDvP conference serves their parish and the surrounding area. Please visit their website to find a SVdP nearest you.
The Giving Kitchen
The Giving Kitchen offers emergency financial assistance to food service workers in Georgia. To qualify you must work in the food service industry (including catering, restaurants, concessions, food trucks, cafeterias, and bars) and have experienced a crisis such as injury, illness, or death in the family. Latin American Association
The Latin American Association serves Latino families throughout Georgia. They offer many programs including emergency financial assistance for families. To apply you must make an appointment with a social worker who will meet with you remotely or in person (they have an office in Dalton and in Lawrenceville). Local Rent Assistance Programs
Georgia is a large state with many resources! Most of the local rent assistance programs are run by churches or smaller organizations, but a few are programs through the county government (including counties distributing ERAP Funds). Below we have listed the rent assistance programs in Georgia organized by county for your convenience. Please note that because Georgia has so many small counties many of the programs also serve the surrounding counties.
Bibb County
United Way (Macon)
The United Way has a mobile unit in Macon that may offer rent assistance. For more information and to apply, please call 478-318-9253 or email [email protected].
Chatham County
United Way of the Coastal Empire
United Way of the Costal Empire offers emergency rental assistance to residents of Chatham County. If granted, the funds can be used for up to 3 months of rent. To qualify you must be a resident of Chatham County (for at least a year) and have a proven loss of income due to COVID-19. For more information and to apply, email [email protected].
Chatham County Government
Besides statewide funds for rent assistance (see above), some Georgia counties also received government ERAP funds. Chatham County Government’s ERAP serves residents of Chatham County. To qualify, you must live in Chatham County, be at risk of housing instability, unemployed (or a decrease in income) from COVID-19, and be at or below 80% area median income. Cherokee County
Must Ministries
Must Ministries serve residents of Cherokee and Cobb County. They are a distributing partner of the ERAP funds (see above) given to Cherokee County. To qualify, you must live in Cherokee County, be at risk of housing instability, unemployed (or a decrease in income) from COVID-19, and be at or below 80% area median income. You can apply here.
Clarke County
The ARK (Also serves Oconee, Madison, and Oglethorpe)
The ARK aims to assist residents of Clarke, Oconee, Madison, and Oglethorpe County who have experienced a recent loss of income or unexpected expenses. To qualify, you must be able to prove that assistance will solve your current problem. For more information and to make an appointment, please call 706-548-8155.
Clayton County
Clayton County Government
Clayton County Government offers a program called Project RESET that assists with preventing evictions. Not much information is available online, but you can create an account and apply here .
Cobb County
Cobb County Government
Cobb County Government offers a seniors rental assistance program. To qualify, you must be over 55, a resident of Cobb County, and have a household gross income below 200% federal poverty guidelines. For more information and to apply, please call 770-528-5364.
Must Ministries
Must Ministries serve residents of Cobb and Cherokee County. They are a distributing partner of the ERAP funds (see above) given to Cobb County. To qualify, you must live in Cobb County, be at risk of housing instability, unemployed (or a decrease in income) from COVID-19, and be at or below 80% area median income. Sweetwater Mission
Sweetwater Mission offers rent assistance to Cobb County Residents that are past due on their rent. To schedule an appointment and apply, please call 770-819-0662 Ext. 16 (Ext.17 for Spanish) or email [email protected].
The Center for Family Resources
The Center for Family Resources offers a few different housing/ rent assistance programs. To qualify you must be a resident of Cobb County (for at least 2 months) and have at least one child (under 18) living in your household. For more information and to apply, please call 770-428-2601.
Dawson County
The Place of Dawson County
The Place of Dawson County offers rent assistance as well as other services to residents of Dawson County. You can apply for assistance by completing this online application
Dekalb County
Community Assistance Center (Dunwoody)
Community Assistance Center (CAC) serves residents of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody. CAC aims to prevent homelessness by offering services such as rent assistance. To request an appointment please complete this form.
NETworks (Northlake, Embry Hills, Tucker)
NETworks offers rent assistance to residents in a very specific section of Dekalb County. Please see this map for the service area. If you live in the service area, you can make an appointment by calling 770-939-6454.
Forsyth County
The Place of Forsyth County
The Place of Forsyth offers rent assistance as well as other services to residents of Forsyth County. You can apply for assistance by completing this online application
Fulton County
Fulton County Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP)
Besides statewide funds for rent assistance (see above), some Georgia counties also received government ERAP funds. Fulton County ERAP serves residents of Fulton County that do not live in the City of Atlanta. To qualify, you must live in Fulton county (outside the city of Atlanta), be at risk of housing instability, unemployed (or a decrease in income) from COVID-19, and be at or below 80% area median income. North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC)
NFCC serves residents of Alpharetta, Johns creek, Milton, Mountain Park, and Roswell in North Fulton. NFCC offers many programs including emergency financial assistance that can be used for rent. All financial assistance requests require an interview with a caseworker. To make an appointment and for the list of documents to bring to the appointment, please see their website.
Buckhead Christian Ministry (BCM)
BCM offers emergency assistance to residents of Fulton County. To qualify, you must have a lease in your name, be employed within the last 12 months (or unable to work due to age or disability), and have a documented emergency within the past year. You can apply online.
HOPE Inc (Metro Atlanta)
HOPE Inc serves single parents that are enrolled in a college degree program full time. Please note, HOPE has many conditions to qualify (for example, must have 2.7 GPA or higher and work part time for at least 6 months of the year). Visit their website for more information and to apply.
Midtown Assistance Center (Atlanta)
Midtown Assistance Center (MAC) is a non-profit dedicated to providing Atlantans with emergency assistance to avoid homelessness. To request assistance, you must schedule an appointment. Please note, they open their application every two weeks so check back if the application is not open. For more information and to apply, please visit their website.
United Way of Greater Atlanta (City of Atlanta)
The United Way of Greater Atlanta offers an Emergency Housing Assistance Program to residents of City of Atlanta. Please note that City of Atlanta is not completely in Fulton County, therefore residents of City of Atlanta that are in Dekalb County are also eligible. The Emergency Housing Assistance Program may be able to cover up to 15 months worth of rent or utilities. You can create an account and apply here.
Hope ATL (Atlanta)
Hope ATL focuses on addressing homelessness and preventing it. If you are at risk of eviction, Hope ATL may be able to provide rent assistance. To see if you qualify for their services, please call 404-817-7070.
House of Globalization
House of Globalization is an organization focused on addressing human trafficking and domestic violence, however they also offer other services including rental assistance. Their website does not mention who qualifies for assistance so please contact them for more information. You can complete an online form for assistance here.
Community Assistance Center (Sandy Springs)
Community Assistance Center (CAC) serves residents of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody. CAC aims to prevent homelessness by offering services such as rent assistance. To request an appointment please complete this form.
Gordon County
Voluntary Action Center
Voluntary Action Center offers multiple programs to residents of Gordon County, including emergency rent assistance. To qualify, you must be at risk of eviction and at or below 140% Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. You can apply by calling 706-629-7283 or completing this online form.
Gwinnett
Asian American Resource Center (AARC) (Metro Atlanta Area)
AARC serves residents of Metro Atlanta with multiple programs including a Homeless Prevention Program that offers one-time rental assistance. To qualify, you must be facing eviction and be at or below the HUD defined low-income level. Please complete this form to apply.
Ser Familia (Suwanee and Norcross)
Ser Familia’s C.A.F.E (Center of Emotional and Family Assistance) program serves Latino families in Norcross and Suwanee. Ser Familia offers emergency financial assistance that can be used for rent as well as other programs. To apply and for more information you can email [email protected] or call 678-363-3079.
Overcomers House (Snellville)
Overcomes House offers many programs, including emergency financial assistance to residents of Snellville and possibly the surrounding areas. For more information and to make an appointment, please call 678-615-7714.
Gwinnett County Government
Gwinnett County Government offers a program called Project RESET that aims to prevent evictions. To receive rent assistance, you must be a resident of Gwinnett County, at our below 80% Area Median Income, and meet other requirements.
Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries (Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Doraville, and Tucker).
Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries offers limited rent assistance when the funds are available. Please note, to qualify for rent assistance you must have a lease with your name on it. For more information please visit their website or call 770-263-0013.
Lilburn Co-op (Lilburn, Stone Mountain, Gwinnett portion of Tucker)
Lilburn Co-op can offer emergency financial assistance (of up to $250) once per year if residents meet the income guidelines. For more information and to apply, please call 770-931-8333 or email [email protected].
Duluth Co-op (Duluth)
Duluth Co-op can offer emergency financial assistance (when funds are available) to families, disabled individuals, or senior citizens. Rent assistance can be up to $200 and you must have received an eviction notice to quality. Please note, assistance is limited to once per year. Lawrenceville Response Center (LRC) (Lawrenceville)
LRC offers rent assistance to residents with a Lawrenceville address. To qualify, you must be at or below 50% area median income. Please note the application for rent assistance temporarily closes and will open again when the funds are available, so continue to check back often. Henry County
Henry County Government
Besides statewide funds for rent assistance (see above), some Georgia counties also received government ERAP funds. Henry County Government’s ERAP serves residents of Henry County. To qualify, you must live in Henry County, be at risk of housing instability, unemployed (or a decrease in income) from COVID-19, and be at or below 80% area median income. Lumpkin County
Community Helping Place
Community Helping Place may provide rent assistance to residents of Lumpkin County. To receive assistance, you must schedule an appointment with the Director of Client Services. Please call 706-867-9621 ext. 303 or email [email protected] to make an appointment.
Muscogee County
Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministry (CVEM)
CVEM is a church ministry that provides rent assistance as well as other programs. To apply, please call 706-327-2836 and press 1. Please note, you must leave a message and they will get back to you if the funds are available. Their services are first come first serve for the month, so if you do not hear back from them, please call again at the beginning of the next month to be added to that month’s requests.
St. Anne Catholic Church (Columbus)
St. Anne’s Catholic Church has limited funds for rent assistance. To qualify, you must live in Columbus. To apply, please call 706-568-1592 on the third Thursday of the month.
Richmond County
Forces United
Forces United serves veterans and their families. Limited financial assistance is available to veterans who qualify. For more information, please complete this form or call 706-951-7506.
Sigh of Relief
Sigh of Relief may provide rent and utility assistance to residents of Richmond County. To apply, please complete this online form.
Rockdale County
The Resource Center for Community Action (RCCA)
RCCA is in Conyers, GA and may serve the surrounding area. They offer emergency rent assistance as well as other programs. For more information, please call 770-760-1346 or email [email protected].
Walton County
Faith in Serving Humanity (FISH)
FISH serves residents of Walton County with multiple services and referrals, including rent assistance when funding is available. To make an appointment, please call 770-207-4357 Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm.
