How to Get Free Food Delivered with No Money

How to Get Free Food Delivered with No Money

With so many people struggling financially, we’ve been repeatedly asked how to get free food delivered with no money. And guess what?! We found several ways that you can get food delivered to your door with absolutely no money required.

In this article, we’ll review XX ways that you can get free food delivered with no money required!

Lasagna Love

Requesting a free meal from Lasagna Love is one of the easiest ways to get free food delivered with no money. This all-volunteer organization has delivered more than 400,000 hot meals over the years. You can request one free meal per month!

It doesn’t have to be lasagna, either. The website says that it’s a lasagna or main dish. Many people who have received a meal from this organization say they’ve received ziti or another form of pasta instead. Some volunteers include side dishes like salads and garlic bread, too, but that’s not promised.

You just need to fill out the Lasagna Love Request Form.

Full Cart

Full Cart is an online food bank that can deliver a box of food directly to your door. Depending on what’s available, you could get shelf-stable food or fresh produce. Their sample menu includes jambalaya, pasta, rice, beans, potatoes, and fresh produce.

Since it’s a food bank, you can order even if you don’t have any money to pay. The organization works with donors who cover the cost of the food and shipment so that customers are never charged!

You can fill out the Full Cart Registration Form. There may be a waitlist depending on the availability of funds, so be sure to register right away and keep tabs on any notifications that you receive via email so that you can get that food delivered as soon as possible.

Food Banks

Many local food banks will help you get free food delivered with no money, too! For example, the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank recently partnered with DoorDash to offer no-cost deliveries to clients in their area.

Even if your food bank doesn’t partner with an app like that, sometimes they have volunteers that can deliver food to customers who can’t get to the food bank in person. It just depends on where you live and what your food bank’s rules are.

Before you can get your free food delivered, though, you usually need to contact the food bank and register as a client. Some food banks don’t require registration. Others may ask you to provide your name, phone number, address, income and other information so that they can register you in their system and establish you as a client.

Once you’ve made contact with your local food bank, it’s always worth asking your local food bank administrators if they offer delivery services. If they don’t, encourage them to consider it! You can also ask them if a friend or family member can pick up food on your behalf and bring it to you.

Meals on Wheels

Older adults and people with disabilities can get meals delivered from Meals on Wheels America. They deliver prepared meals to eligible people who need them. The meals may be refrigerated and need to be heated up before they are eaten.

This organization has pledged that no senior will be denied a meal just because they can’t afford to pay. You may be asked to contribute voluntarily toward the cost of the meal if you can afford it. If you can’t, that’s okay too.

Typically, you need to be over age 60 or disabled to receive free food from Meals on Wheels. You also need to be unable to get to a congregate meal site, like a senior center. In addition to providing free food deliveries, this organization is often able to help with home repair grants and other helpful services.

Earn Restaurant Gift Cards Online

If you have some time, you can use a service like Swagbucks or Inbox Dollars to earn points toward gift cards. You earn points when you sign up, refer friends, or complete tasks like surveys or watching videos. The tasks and the points awarded by them vary, so you’ll have to log in to see what’s currently available to you.

After you’ve accrued enough points, you can exchange them for gift cards. I usually use my Swagbucks points to get Amazon gift cards for holiday shopping, but they are usually gift cards available for restaurants that deliver. If I were going to use my Swagbucks points that way, I’d choose to buy gift cards for a pizza place like Domino’s that lets you earn points toward free pizzas. That way, you may be able to get free food in the future too!

This isn’t a quick or consistent solution, since it takes time to earn enough points to get these gift cards. However, it is an option that can work for an occasional meal.

Ask Your Community

I have personally helped people in my community get free food delivered with no money. That’s because I’m active on social media and when someone nearby posts that they are hungry, my family tries to bring that person a meal or a box of groceries.

We aren’t the only ones, either! When we brought a box of food to someone a few months ago, there were already two boxes of food on the porch. This person was able to get help from multiple sources just by posting on a local Facebook group. I was thrilled to see that they’d already gotten help, because more help is always better.

Sometimes, there are Reddit groups that will help you get hot meals delivered from DoorDash or other delivery services. I’ve seen posts from people who were grateful to receive a fresh pizza or other meal from generous Redditors who responded to their needs. Again, this isn’t guaranteed to work but it doesn’t hurt to try! Just be careful who you give your address to and never share it publicly.

You can also try posting on a community-based social media network like Next Door. Sometimes, community members post excess food or food they didn’t like in their nearby Buy Nothing group as well.

Create a MealTrain

MealTrain is an online service that helps people deliver hot meals to people who need help. It is something that my Church uses often to coordinate meals for people who have just moved, had a baby or experienced a disaster.

If you need help, you could try to create a MealTrain on your behalf.

Just like when you’re trying to set up a GoFundMe, it’s often more effective if someone else sets the campaign up on your behalf. You could ask a friend to set it up for you, and then help them share it to different social media groups. People tend to give more generously if someone isn’t asking for themselves.

For example, last week I saw a MealTrain posted to our community Facebook group. There’s an elderly lady in our area who can’t safely prepare her own meals any more, so the community is coming together to make sure that she always has a dinner provided.

Churches & Charities

Many churches and charities organize community meals at congregate meal sites. If you’re not able to get there, you may be able to reach out and see if someone can bring a meal to you.

Some churches, like mine, regularly organize meals to be brought in to people in need. It never hurts to reach out and ask if your local church can assist you with food. Food is a basic need and many religious organizations will step up to help fill that need for you.

Me and husband recently lost our car. Now he has to Uber to work so we have little to no money for food. And no car to get anywhere. We could really use the help.

Nicole is there a particular group or thread on Reddit that you were referencing? There are sooo many groups/treads on there it can be overwhelming and ineffective to spend a lot of time looking for just what you need...
