How to Make Money on Temu

How to Make Money on Temu

Once you learn how to make money on Temu, it’ll change your life! I recently met a woman who supports her family by buying and selling Temu products at pop-up markets and yard sales. This has been life-changing because she can buy products very cheap and sell them for more than she paid, pocketing a nice profit in the process.

In this article, we’ll talk about what Temu is and how you can use it to make a little extra cash!

What is Temu?

Temu is an online marketplace that sells heavily discounted items. Their selection includes jewelry, clothing, shoes, outdoor items, and more.

The Temu app is comparable to Wish or Shein. These are all discounted marketplaces that sell items for less than you’ll find at standard retailers.

Why It Works

Back in the day, I used to support my family by selling items for a profit. I would find incredible deals at thrift stores and yard sales, and then resell those items for a profit. Sometimes, we’d offer to remove free unwanted furniture so that we could sell it for cash. For example, I once pocketed $75 for a desk I got for free.

But it wasn’t always easy and the risk was high.

Sometimes we were left with things we couldn’t sell. We ended up spending money we didn’t have on something we didn’t have room to store and sometimes we even had to pay to get rid of it! It was a gamble, and when we lost, it hit us hard.

That’s why I love Temu!

Flipping a $1 ring involves much less risk than flipping large, costly items like furniture. It’s easy to store small items and your potential profit is much higher.

My new friend buys a ton of products from Temu. She mostly buys jewelry and small items that are easy to store. She also makes sure to buy very cheap items, so that the risk is minimal if she ends up with something she can’t sell.

To sell the items, she hosts pop-up shops and yard sales in her local community. I’ve also encountered Temu products for sale at Renaissance Fairs, Farmers Markets and roadside stands as well.

These sellers are making money by selling this stuff for far more than they paid for it. It’s literally changing lives, helping people cover their bills and make ends meet. Isn’t that incredible?

How to Make Money on Temu by Reselling

In my experience, it’s actually very easy to make money on Temu. You just need to find the right products and present them the right way.

Find the Right Products

You need to find a product that is interesting enough to drive sales but also cheap enough that you’ll turn a great profit on it. This can take some trial and error, so I recommend buying one or two of each item type while you learn what your audience is most likely to buy.

What you should sell will also depend on where you’re selling. If you decide to sell your items at a specific location, you can make product decisions based on what you know about the target audience.

For example, If you are setting up a booth at a Renaissance Fair, then you’re more likely to have success with items like cheap costume pieces like tiaras and bracers, collectible pins, and items that feature dragons or fairies.

On the other hand, if you’re setting up a booth at a Farmers Market, you may have more success with produce storage or kitchen implements, farm-themed home décor, or small jewelry items.

You can also use trending items as a benchmark. I was thrilled to find an affordable alternative to the Nessie ladle on Temu, since I really wanted one for Christmas last year. I paid just over $1 for my ladle, which normally retails for much more on Amazon.

The best way to buy products with confidence is to start small and build up your stock. Buy a few things, sell them, and then buy some more things with your profits. As you do this, you’ll build an intuition about which products will sell best.

Sell Products in Person

Temu is dominating the online marketplace right now. Everyone is learning about this incredible source. After all, they’re the #1 most downloaded app on Google Play and the Apple AppStore right now. You really can’t compete with them online.

The best way to make money on Temu products is to sell them in your local communities. You need to get those affordable must-have items off the internet and into your local community, where people can buy them on impulse.

Think yard sales, pop-up tents, community markets, or local events. These offline opportunities are your golden ticket to instant buyer gratification, something an online purchase can’t match.

Set Reasonable Prices

You need to capture the attention of shoppers who want to make impulse buys. If your prices are too high, some shoppers may decide it’s worth the wait to buy online. Make sure that you set reasonable prices that yield a comfortable profit without deterring customers.

When I was selling items for a profit, I typically aimed to undercut Walmart and Amazon by about 25%. This made my offers more enticing for customers, while also allowing them to skip the hassle of waiting for an online purchase.

Since many of Temu’s products are so unique, you may not always be able to find a directly comparable product. In that case, you may want to elect for a more category-based pricing. For example, you could price all of your earrings at $4.99. That may not seem like much, but there are many stunning options on Temu for less than $1.

Selling Online? Try This.

If you choose to sell your Temu finds online, it is critically important that you do not duplicate the Temu listing. Don’t use the same title or photos. Doing so makes it very easy for buyers to find their way to Temu’s listings instead.

Instead, use a different title and description for your products. You can use an AI tool like ChatGPT for ideas, if you need to do so. If you copy the Temu description into ChatGPT, it can rephrase the listing for you.

You also need to make sure that you take your own photos. Don’t use the original photos, or someone will be able to do an image search to easily find the product on Temu instead. Try different angles and lighting to make your photos more unique.

Build Repeat Customers

One of the best ways to establish a profitable reselling business is to build a database of repeat customers. Gather email addresses or phone numbers from your customers so that you can let them know when you have other deals available.

This is a great way to maximize your effort. Selling to repeat customers can help you maximize your profits while cutting down on your workload.

How to Make Money on Temu by Sharing

Temu rewards shoppers for sharing the app with their friends. You can use their refer-a-friend section or even sign up for the Temu affiliate program.

If you use your referral code when you recommend the app to your friends a family, you can get free products and other perks.

Temu also has an affiliate program if you have a social media account with over 1,000 followers. This program pays a $5 reward when the app is downloaded and also offers up to 20% in commissions.

My Temu Review

I’ve been shopping with Temu for months. It all started when my husband dropped my wedding ring and I needed to replace it. Wedding rings are expensive and I couldn’t afford an expensive ring for a jewelry store, so I needed a cheaper alternative.

On Temu, I found beautiful wedding rings starting for just $0.88. That’s less than a dollar! They were beautiful and fit perfectly, so I bought several different rings for around $5. Now, I don’t need to worry if I drop one. They’re easy and affordable to replace, and I have at least three rings that I really like.

I’ve also used Temu to buy clothes for my kids and home décor like fake flowers and decorative lights. Our family loves to LARP, so I’ve bought a lot of props and supplies for our LARPs from Temu. For those items, I’ve found that the quality and shipping time are comparable to Amazon for a fraction of the price!

There are some items that I would not recommend buying on Temu. I bought several pairs of shoes and most of them are awful. As a plus-size person, I also don’t like buying clothing for myself as the sizes tend to run small. However, it’s a great place to buy clothes for my kids because the both the price and quality are pretty good.

Overall, I like shopping on Temu. The products are reasonably good quality and the prices are unbeatable. We’ve had quite a few people haggle over their pins and jewelry at our LARPs!

Is Temu a scam?

Temu is not a scam. It is a legitimate marketplace that sells low-cost items. I have personally placed hundreds of dollars in Temu orders and they have all arrived on time and in great condition.

Why is Temu so cheap?

There are several reasons why Temu is so cheap. A lot of it comes down to their business practices.

  • Temu works directly with global suppliers and cuts out middlemen, which allows them to pass savings directly to the consumer. (Source: Temu)
  • Temu does not pay Customs taxes because they rely on the de minimis exception that does not inspect or charge taxes to shipments below $800. (Source: US House Select Committee report)
  • Temu is operating at a loss in an attempt to take over market share. Temu loses about $30 per order, or around $954 million per year. It appears that most of that loss is associated to shipping costs. (Source: WIRED)

These are a few of the reasons why Temu products are so cheap.

How long does Temu take to ship?

Temu claims that it takes between 6-25 days to deliver your order. I have placed many orders and in my experience, the shipments usually arrive in about 10 days. Of course, it depends on how many products you’ve ordered, where you are located, and how well staffed your local shipping carriers are.

This is much faster than other discounted marketplaces like Wish, which often took weeks to months to deliver products.

Where does Temu ship from?

Temu claims to be based in Boston, Massachusetts. However, the company is widely known to be registered to PDD Holdings, a company that is based in China and registered in the Cayman Islands.

The company claims that products are shipped from their global network of suppliers and manufacturers and that the origin of the shipment will vary depending on what is ordered.

Is there a Temu affiliate program?

Temu has an affiliate program that offers up to 20% in commissions. You can also get a $5 reward for every time the app is downloaded.

Low Income Relief is currently not a part of the affiliate program. However, we have received money and free products from Temu for a sponsored video on our YouTube channel.
