Have you heard of the Michigan Activity Pass?! If you’re looking for free things to do in Michigan, this one printable pass can get you FREE or discounted admission to over 450 venues across the state! The list includes museums, cultural destinations, National Parks, state parks, campgrounds and more.
In this article, we will review what the Michigan Activity Pass is, who is eligible for it and how you can get one for yourself.
What is the Michigan Activity Pass?
The Michigan Activity Pass (MAP) is the result of a statewide collaboration between Michigan’s top destinations and the state’s public library system. As a result, the pass is available exclusively through the Michigan library system. You can’t get it anywhere else.
Once you have it, this pass can unlock free and discounted admission at over 450 top destinations across Michigan. You can show the pass on your mobile device without even printing it! It’s so easy.
Who is eligible for a Michigan Activity Pass?
Anyone who lives in Michigan and has a library card can use the Michigan Activity Pass!
According to the state government, all Michigan residents are eligible for a library card. If you’re an out-of-state resident who attends a Michigan college or university, you may also be eligible! You can apply at the library or online.
How do you get the Michigan Activity Pass?
You can check out a Michigan Activity Pass online. All you need to do is go to the website and decide where you want to go. Click the “Get Pass” button next to the destination name and select what day and time you want to visit.
When you request the pass, you will need to provide some basic information such as your name, phone number, email address and library card number. These details are required in order to complete your reservation.
Make sure to select an email reminder so that you can use the mobile pass. You’ll need that confirmation email. If you don’t get a confirmation email, you will need to print the pass.
How often can you use it?
You can use a MAP pass every seven days, so you can visit a new destination every week. With over 450 locations to choose from, you would need to go every week for more than eight years in order to see them all!
If you want to visit fun destinations more often, make sure you check out our list of EBT discounts and free museum days! There’s often some overlap between these lists so you may be able to get an admission discount more frequently if you use different programs as well.
Each destination sets their own rules about when the pass can be used, so make sure to pay careful attention to the date of your visit. Because of those restrictions, you may not be able to use a pass exactly every seven days.
